With the objective of training youth as aviators, Delhi Flying Club is one of the renowned clubs in India. Great Alumni such as Former Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi, Former Chief Minister of Orissa, Late Shri Biju Patnaik blows the triumph of this great place as a learning Institution.

In 60s, this Club was accredited with providing some of the finest Air force Pilots in India and even in 80s it provided Naval Pilots in India. An MAE school is run by the Alumni of the Club, securing High Ranks in aviation industry across the globe. This school also provide ground classes for CPL, PPL and ATPL Pilot’s licenses. All the VIP Aircrafts for Haryana are also maintained by the Club. Overhauling of Continental Engines and Lycoming are also undertaken here with an Engine Shop which is duly approved. In order to conduct bench checks of Instruments, the club also has an Instrument Shop.

‘On The Job Training’ is provided with the full fledged facilities such as MAGNAFLUX Machine and Lead-Acid Battery Shop within its building which is duly approved. From last 20 years the club is profoundly maintaining 5 aircrafts: LESRJET, a RALLYE, two CESSNA and a B-200 Super King. Courses like PE, JE, HA and ES are approved by the School OF Aviation and Technology and it has graduated 25 batches till date. DGCA has also approved this school in July 2008 for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering training Programme with 15 modules under EASA-66 under JAR-147. 10 modules have been approved by DCGA for Avionics and 12 modules for Mechanical stream.

As the flying activity is stopped at Safdurjung considering the security issues, hence 2 serviceable Cessna 152 aircrafts are unable to fly from last 8 years. But the school is putting in efforts to commence flying activities as a joint venture with Chimes Aviation Academy Pvt. Ltd (Dhana Airfield, Sagar) (M.P).

This flying Club is also accredited for initiating first Air Mail service in the country.
