Originally established in 1855, Dr. Bhau daji Lad Mumbai City Museum is the Oldest Museum in Mumbai, where you will find some Unique and Rare Collection of Books, from the Seventeenth Century to the recent Publications on Modern and Contemporary Arts Subjects. The Museum focuses on Culture, Industrial Arts and Crafts of the Time, History of Mumbai-its development, Geography etc. The gates are always open for the Researchers and Scholars in the Library.
The Library opens from 10:30 AM – 5:30 PM. The Museum remains closed on Wednesday and Sunday. Before entering the Library makes sure you keep your Cell Phones at silent mode. Keep your stomach full as no Food and Drink is allowed inside the Museum.
The Museum offers a Dynamic Cultural Hub, the Museum Plaza, Outdoor Activities, and Workshops. A new wing is under construction which is built adjacent to the Museum. It will feature a Mumbai Modern Gallery, Exhibition Gallery which will Organize National and International Exhibitions. The wing will start running from 2018.
Many more Museums and Cultural Institutions around the world have collaborated with Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum to see Contemporary Artists and International Exhibitions which is Museum’s Premium Collection.
