#MustPlan: A Soul Awakening Trip To Siddhivinayak Temple

Renowned as one of the most beautiful temples in India, Siddivinayak temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha in Mumbai. The architecture of temple crafted with extreme elegance way back in 1801 by Deubai Patil and Laxman Vithu. Today more than 25,000 devotees paying visit to the temple premises. The complex is stretched across 2550 sq. metres. Among Marathi devotes, it is also known as ‘Navasala Pavanara Ganapati’ or ‘Navasacha Ganapati’.

As you proceed towards the Temple, you will find a Phool Gali (flower street) with several sellers offering Prasad, Puja thalis and flowers. Devotees generally buy this stuff to offer it to Lord Ganesha. Tuesday is the special day of the week dedicated to Lord Ganesha and on this day special ‘Poojas’ and ‘Aartis’ are performed within the Temple. The devotees here firmly believe that your all wishes come to true after praying here. This may be one of the reasons, why several celebrities pay a regular visit to this place.

To attain esteemed Blessings of Lord Ganesha, devotees here also pay visit with barefoot. There is an octagonal-gold-plated shelter which covers the Lord Ganesha idol within premises. It has been designed beautifully and known as ‘Gabhara’. It is approximately 10 feet wide. The wooden doors of the temple flaunt 8 intricate images of Lord Ganesha. A Hanuman Temple is also in the periphery of the premises.

Te idol is 2.5 feet tall and carved out of a single piece Black Stone. ‘Goddess Riddhi’ and ‘Goddess Siddhi’ are mounted on the either sides of the idol. The trunk of the idol is tilted towards the right side. Photography is prohibited within the premises. It is recommended to avoid visiting Temple during Tuesdays as it is heavily crowded. It is also one of the richest temples in Mumbai with receiving an annual donation between 100 Million to 150 Million approximately in 2004.

To reach the place, Dadar is the adjacent railway station while local trains can be board from Mahalaxmi and Elphinstone Road.

What makes Siddhivinayak Temple a hot-spot in Mumbai is its unique design making it an Opulence masterpiece.
