IRCTC’s Tiger Express, A Semi-Luxury Train, Will Make You Think Over Your Travel Plan

Feedbacks and suggestions for Indian Railways on social media are being the great support for bringing IRCTC’s Tiger Express plan forward by the Ministry of Railway. Our Railway Minister seems not to give a break when it’s about Railway development and this time, Suresh Prabhu has come up with this new comfy, semi-luxury train that you couldn’t have ever imagined.

How the name is derived? Well, Tiger Express is planned to travel through Bandavgarh and Kanha National Parks. Both of these are wildlife reserves in Madhya Pradesh and are famous for their tigers. And so, is the name. Fair?

What’s best in it? The train is not coming all alone. Really-truly, the train embraces a complete tour package of 5 days & 6 nights, and that too, including 3 tiger safaris as well as the visit to Dhuadhar Waterfall, near Jabalpur. But all will have to wait till October this year when the train begins its regular run on the tracks.

Expenses? Duh! It depends on in which class you wish to travel. Semi – luxury tour does deserve semi-luxury expenses and so, are the prices. AC- first class, single occupancy reservation is available at ₹ 49,500 approx. whereas double and triple occupancies are available at approximate cost of ₹ 45, 500 and ₹ 44, 900 per head, respectively.

You think it costs too much? Wait a minute. The charges are not merely for the journey and safaris but it also include 3 nights’ accommodation in a 3-star hotel. The plan includes – 1 night at Bandavgarh and 2 nights at Kanha. Plus, it’s inclusive of charges for travelling within the cities, by roads (AC cabs) as well as buffet meal, but of course. So, does it still sound expensive?
Looking forward to save your expenses on travelling? You can, surely, do that by opting AC 2-tier that ranges something between ₹ 33,500 and ₹ 44,000. But, not to be ignored, foreigners will be charged something extra, around ₹ 4000 or so, while booking safaris.

What’s more? Well, some more luxuries like shower cubicles and classy dining carts for the passengers. And a lot more are there to experience while travelling around via Tiger Express. So, what’s your plan now?
