When In Delhi Langar At Bangla Sahib Gurudwara Shall Not Be Given A Miss!

Located in Central Delhi, this historic Sikh shrine is well known for serving more than 25,000 meals every day. With an inspiration for spirituality, brotherhood and better future, this spiritual epicentre draws followers across globe. Originally a splendid bungalow of Raja Jai Singh, it is now renowned as Bangla Sahib Gurudwara. This holy place was established to pay tribute to Guru Har Kishan Sahib who served poor folks in the epidemic year 1964. The tall flagpole Nishan Sahib and its golden dome, may let you recognize it even from a distance. Over weekends, the number of people eating langar at this eminent Sikh Gurudwara goes as high as 45000.

Proudly representing the Sikh religion, the archetypal Sikh ritual of langar is dedicatedly pursued here. Irrespective of any religion or caste, large numbers of people are fed here every day. Not just langar, this incredible also serves hospital, higher secondary school and library. Langar at this holy place is served from 9 AM onwards. The devotional and mesmerising music at the background gives you immense pleasure to savour delicious langar here. Daal, Subji, Chappati and Kheer are the main components of a meal which are served at regular intervals. Approximately 700 kilos of daal, 1000 kilos of vegetables, 100000 rotis and 300 kilos of rice are prepared using 2 big iron woks. This gurudwara strictly emphasize the importance of hygiene and adhere to serve with clean hands. Anyone who wish to volunteer here is graciously invited.

After a commendable lunch at Bangla Sahib, don’t forget to take Kada Prasad that will simply soak you in religious bliss. Relax at the Sarovar here, located within the premises of Bangla Sahib. You can also locate goldfishes playing within pond that adds serene beauty the place.

Before entering to the Bangla Sahib premises, you need to cover your head with a scarf. In case you don’t have a scarf, you can buy from the shop outside the Bangla Sahib. These scarves are available free for use as well, lying outside in the basket. After removing your shoes, you need to keep them in the shoe-zone assigned in the premises.

The place is accessible via Metro or any other public means of transport. Accommodation facility is also available within Bangla Sahib as Sri Guru Har Krishan Yatri Niwas. Both Air-conditioned and non-AC rooms are available as per your convenience. Hotels like Radisson Blue Marina Hotel, Hotel Pallavi Palace and The Metropolitan Hospital are in close proximity to the place.
