Must Enjoy Toy Train Ride At National Rail Museum When In New Delhi

With over 100 real size exhibits of Indian Railway, National Rail Museum at Delhi gleams with several working models, antique furniture, historical photographs, signaling equipment and related literature. Opened in February 1977, this rail heritage of India is stretched across an area of 10 acres of land.

One of the greatest attentions of the place is a toy train that takes you on a ride around the museum. You will also find the smallest Railway Station of the world here with a ticket counter, watch, name and even a small weighing machine at the corner of it.

In order to attract more and more tourists, National Rail Museum in New Delhi has started hosting a light and sound show. Musical fountains have been installed and the premise is providing free Wi-fi service to its visitors. A restaurant with a name ‘The Rails’ is also set up.

Other attraction includes Fairy Queen which is the oldest working stream locomotive, Saloon of Pince of Wales which was built for Prince of Wales for his visit in India, Electric locomotive 4502 which is one of the India’s first generation electric locomotive, Fireless Steam Locomotive, Saloon of Maharaja of Mysore, Cranetank, Kalka Simla Rail bus and many more.

The National Rail Museum remains closed on every Monday and remain open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM from Tuesday to Sunday. However, the ticket counter gets closed by 4:30 PM disallowing visitors to enter after 4:30 PM. All the rides like Toy train, Steam Stimulator, Diesel Stimulator and Coach Stimulator are chargeable and these services are available only on specific days and within specific timings.
