Decide The Different Oils You Want

You must be applying just one single type of oil at a time till now and that is where you are lacking. There are two kinds of Oils which are essential Oils (Lavender) and carrier Ols (Olive and Coconut Oil). There are some people who also like using a mixture of base oil and essential oil to give volume, shine and to repair the damaged hair.

Select The Apt Oil

Just like you need the right kind of cosmetics to suit your skin type, you need the right kind of oil to suit your hair type. Only the hair oil that is correct for your hair type will give you healthy and radiant hair. Choose all the three Oils – Essential, base and carrier- as per the suitability.

Making Your Hair ‘Champi-Ready

Before the vigorous oiling process starts, your hair should be completely prepared for it. Firstly, comb or brush your hair properly so that there are no tangles while oiling. Secondly, try to Oil your hair when it is already a little oily, like 1-2 days after a head-wash as it gives the best results then.

Heat The Oil

Before oiling, slightly heat the oil so that it becomes lukewarm. When you heat the oil before applying, it makes the scalp very soft. Also, because of heat, the Oil is able to show its properties in a more effective way. Lukewarm oil absorbs into your scalp in a better way and thus, increasing the circulation.

Divide Your Hair In Two Parts

For an easy application of hair oil, divide your hair in two equal sections (especially when you have thick and voluminous hair). The division can be sidewise or even upward and downward, according to your convenience. By doing this, Oil will be applied properly on the entire scalp.

Massage Your Scalp

While applying the Oil, massaging the scalp is the most important. Most often, we forget to massage the areas like back of the head. But ensure that you massage each and every part of your scalp to boost the circulation.

Use Fingertips

Some people always do the mistake of directly applying the oil on the scalp. Because of this, Oil is not distributed equally across the scalp. The other common mistake is using your palms to massage the scalp which results in hair-fall. So the best way to massage is to use your fingertips dipped in Oil, that too in circular motions to achieve the best results. Never use your fingernails on the scalp because they severely damage the roots of the hair.

Apply Along The Length Also

After massaging the scalp and roots, we sometimes forget the length of the hair. It’s very beneficial to apply Oil along the length too. But please, don’t use a lot of it, as it will be really difficult to get rid of the oil afterwards.

Sleep Through It!

We have seen our moms applying hair Oil and leaving it overnight to wash them the next morning. They do it because leaving it overnight apparently the best way to let the Oil show its effects. But don’t leave oil for a very long period of time, say for more than 24 hours, as it will attract dust and dirt.

Oiling Should Be Done Regularly

You can’t expect good results of Oiling, when you are just doing it once a month or once in two months. Therefore, massage your hair with oil at least once a weak otherwise it will make no difference. You have to be regular and patient if you want healthy hair.
